Despite being a site almost exclusive dedicated to developing WordPress plug-ins there are many plug-ins that have been developed elsewhere that are used on this site.The plugin that is recommended today is Wordpress.com stats.

This is something that is very handy to see how things are going down on the site, withoiut having to rely on user comments. Not that users shouldn’t have there say, but it is only either the enthusiastic or disgruntled that often leave comments

A few plug-ins where tried but this one came out on tops for here, mainly due to the fact that the stats are kept off site. This is an advantage when it comes to reinstalling a site as there are no extra table to worry about, just the primary WordPress tables. All the standard stats are collected, visits, click and referrers and are presented as tables and graphics on you WordPress dashboard, or in further depth at WordPress.com.

Installation is simple all you do need to do is register with WordPress.com ( that’s .com, not .org, a common oversight ) and enter the API key, but you’ve probably done that to get your key for Akismet. After that you can forget about it. You can still use other stats programmes as well, in fact Google Analytics is used on this site also, but this gives a whole different and more complicated view of you stats.
